Job Overview:
Tyco Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd (TE Connectivity) is looking for an R&D
Scientist/Engineer to join our new R&D Center. The Scientist/Engineer will
be part of a highly functioning team, collaborating with other R&D team
members as well as local university and government research centers to
undertake projects that will advance TE’s technologies. This position
reports into the Modelling group and is based at our Singapore HQ.
The Singapore R&D Center is chartered to work with the CTO’s of TE’s
business units to identify technical areas of interest for R&D and develop
the technologies that will impact all segments. In order to improve the New
Product Development process, TE is investing in upfront simulation and
modelling capabilities, as a part of our Digitalization strategy. Effective
use of modelling helps to “get it right the first time.”
Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluating mechanical, thermal performance for product designs and
manufacturing processes
Analyzing stress, deformation and heat transfer based on simulation
Designing, analyzing and simulating mold designs, including cooling, for
TE factories and NPD engineers
Assisting with managing out-sourced projects related to the above
Assisting with proposals for new projects to create multi-physical models
that target TE product design needs
Creating awareness across TE of the modelling and simulation capabilities
of the Singapore center
Working with local, and regional, TE sites and external customers to
address urgent or strategic needs
Qualifications:
Required
Master degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 3-4 years (or
Bachelor degree with 4-6 years, or PhD degree with) relevant working/
research experience
Fresh PhD graduates are welcome to apply
Keen interest in R&D
Proven experience modelling mechanical and thermal problems using FEA and
CFD simulation packages, preferably with ANSYS and/or Moldex3D
Experience with Creo, DesignModeler, SpaceClaim or similar CAD tools
Excellent fundamental understanding of structural mechanics and heat
transfer, and nice to know fluid dynamics principles
Preferred
Broad knowledge of Additive Manufacturing, materials, polymers,
electronics and product design
Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes (molding, extrusion, plating,
stamping, assembly etc.)
Familiarity with project management tools
